Alexia laid in bed, listening for the sound of her parents going to sleep. She wanted to go walking through the woods and she knew that her parents wouldn't let her if they knew so she had to wait until they were asleep before sneaking out. She wasn't sure how much time passed before she heard nothing, but silence in her home and she smiled.
Sitting up in bed, she threw back her covers and sheets and placed her feet on the floor. She quickly went over to her computer chair that had a pair of jeans hanging off of the back of it, picked them up, pulled them on, and then zipped them up. Looking around her room, she found her tennis shoes and went over to them. Slipping her feet into them, she made sure that they were tied the right way before grabbing her jacket and a flashlight she had in a hiding place in her bedroom for occasions such as this. Putting the flashlight in her jacket pocket, she went over to her window and opened it. Fortunately, her bedroom was on the first floor so she wouldn't have to jump down too far. Once she climbed out of her bedroom window and landed on the ground, she took off running for the woods that bordered the backyard of her house.
Soon, she was a good distance away from her house and she slowed down enough to pull out her flashlight and turn it on. Sweeping it over her surroundings, she took in where she was before following a path she knew from years of walking through these woods. She has been doing this long enough to know the ins and outs of practically the whole forest and often used a couple of trails the most while she was walking through them, especially at night, so that she wouldn't get lost. She smiled as she breathed in the cool night air and just relaxed as she walked.

Caroline couldn't sleep. She tried to, she really did. For a few hours. Then she got fed up with tossing and turning in bed and accepted that today was just one of those days. Everyone has got them, right? Where you wake up and you're just so.. Overwhelmed. With everything. Caroline just .. Couldn't snap back into her perky old self today, call it teenage angst or undead misery or who knows what (maybe both) but from the moment she woke up today nothing felt right.
With a scoff she sat up in her bed and looked around the room. God damn those days. Maybe it was because she was hungry.. She nearly always was (comes with the territory of being a newborn.. And Caroline) but somehow she couldn't really think of that as being the case. She wasn't after all abnormally hungry. Caroline stood up and shook herself lightly, walking from one end of the room to the other. She finally, after walking around in circles for a while got to her dresser and decided that since today was going to be a sleepless night anyway, she might of make some use to it.
As soon as she stepped outside it hit her, how random she was at the moment. Sure, it wasn't really out of character to be kind of quirky, but walking outside alone at this time of the night, with no purpose.. Not really your regular old Caroline. And walks, bleh. Never the less, she decided to head out into the forest, maybe she could feed on a deer or a bunny. Not that that was her thing anymore. She tried, more or so for Stefans sake, but that just didn't work out for her. Caroline just couldn't feed on them she drank out of blood bags. The difference between human blood and animal blood is tremendous.
By the time she had entered the forest, she had changed her mind many, many times. She had considered visiting the Lockwood cellar. But in the end she had no idea what the heck she was doing. And as it turned out, she didn't have a back up plan either. She could hear footsteps far far ahead of her and in her mind that spelled trouble. She listened for a while, pondering of who it may have been. When she saw the flashlight she exhaled and loosened up a little. It had to be a human. Caroline squinted her eyes and to her confusion, she knew that 'human'. ''Lexxi?'' Caroline inquired. ''What the heck are you doing here?'' She added, with a small laugh. Talk about a weird coincidence.

She wasn't sure how long she had been walking through the forest before she started to feel like she wasn't quite alone. She swept her flashlight over her surroundings as she continued to walk, just to help her see if there was anyone out here after all. She then saw Caroline and heard the girl's voice as she spoke her name and asked what she was doing here. She laughed along with Caroline as she shrugged a little and lowered her flashlight a bit so that she wouldn't blind Caroline with its light as she replied, "Was feeling restless and wanted to explore the woods. I would have come out earlier, but you know how my mom and dad are."
Walking the rest of the way over to Caroline, she looked the girl over and tried to figure out why she was out here by herself, too. Probably had trouble sleeping, she thought to herself as she looked around her out of habit. She often did that if she was out here when she was especially late. After all, any numbers of things could be out here at this time of night, although she didn't think of vampires or werewolves being out here. They didn't exist in her mind. They belonged in horror stories and books like Twilight, not in real life.
Turning her attention back to Caroline, she asked, "So why are you out here? Couldn't sleep?" She was mostly guessing at this point since she didn't know for sure why Caroline might be out here, but it was nice to had company, that was for sure. Plus, if she ran into one of the bad guys that resided in Mystic Falls, she would have someone she knew and trusted to help her out if she needed it.

Caroline heard her explanation and nodded, even though she wasn't sure Alexia could actually see her head move in the dark. Caroline didn't need a flashlight, one of the very few perks of being what she was was being able to see in total darkness. Thinking about Lexxis family, Caroline couldn't help but feel a slight bit of envy. They were so close, Caroline often dreamt of having something like that in her life. After her own father left them, her mother started working her ass out even more then before. Caroline is pretty sure that she was sort of in denial - of her fathers sexual orientation and all that. Caroline sure didn't make things easier on her, having her own problems of accepting that her dad was really gone. They had such a strained relationship and after her transition everything became even harder between them.
Noticing Lexie's eyes wander around the woods, Caroline felt the need to do the same. She was aware of what might be lurking around and another casualty to her friends might just be the worst thing that could happen to her. She just couldn't let something happen to Lexxi, she wanted her to have a great life. A normal one - going to college, having a family, a great job and all that. Lurking around the woods might not make that happen. Nonetheless, Caroline was just happy that she was the vampire Lexxi came across. Katherine would have not shared the same hopes and dreams for Lexxi as she did.
As for Alexia's question, Caroline folded her arms and started to walk ahead, being sure Lexxi would follow and walk right by her. She had stated she had wanted to 'explore the woods' after all. ''Yeah, I was tossing and turning in bed for hours before I finally gave up.'' She told her. ''How are you though? It's been a while since we've hung out'' Caroline added, turning her head towards her long term friend. It had been a while, with not having the lapis lazuli ring at first, then getting it and then trying to adjust with all the changes in her life.

She watched Caroline as the girl folded her arms and begin to walk ahead of her. Running to catch up to her, she fell into step beside her and swept her flashlight over the shadows that surrounded them, hoping that no dangerous animals were out here at the moment. A few nights ago, she had heard some wolves howling and for some reason she had been both afraid and oddly drawn to them. She wasn't aware yet of her friends, Ally and Gregory, being werewolves, but she must have been sensing something in ordr to have her feel that way.
When Caroline began to speak, she glanced over at the girl every now and then as she listened, nodding in understanding. She then listened as the vampire asked her how she was doing and she just shrugged a bit. "The usual, I guess. Although..." she trailed off, going quiet as she thought about her growing feelings for Gregory. She hoped that he returned her feelings, but she was too afraid to tell him how she felt. They've been friends for so long that she didn't want to lose the bond they shared at the moment. Plus, she has been sensing that something has changed in him lately, but she couldn't put her finger on it exactly. After a few seconds, she shook her head to clear the thoughts from her mind and sighed as she glanced around at the shadows that she lit up with her flashlight, not saying anything else yet.

Content that Lexxi shared the same trail of thought as she did, with her joining her in the walk, Caroline let her eyes wander around the woods. It was.. Pretty creepy at night. If she were to have actually gone through with the whole walking-around-alone-in-the-woods-at-midnight-thing Caroline would probably by now be pretty freaked out. And well, she most likely would have gone home, instead of walking more into the forest.
Caroline waited for a while, thinking Alexia would elaborate. After a few seconds she glanced over at Lexxi and saw her mind had trailed off to somewhere else. As she noticed Lexxi shaking her head, she thought that was the best time for her to .. Well, pry. Caroline was a curious being, she had always been that way. She nudged Lexxi slightly, and with a smirk, ''Although..?''she asked in a playful manner. Please, lord, let it be a safe although. She would have had a nervous breakdown right then and there in the woods if it was something like 'Although I saw Elena sucking on some random dudes blood in the town square late at night yesterday' Or something like 'Although I saw a dude become a wolf a few days back.' Uh. No. Please don't let that happen. Though, Caroline would imagine if Alexia saw those scenarios happen, she'd be more freaked out and not start the sentence with a simple 'Although.' That made more sense, so Caroline just shook it off and wrote it off as her just being a little neurotic again.

She felt Caroline nudge her arm and looked over at her in time to see the smirk dimly in the dark as Caroline urged her to go on. She smiled and blushed at the same as she looked away, well aware of Caroline being in a playful mood and she did want to talk to her about her feelings for Gregory. Taking a few breaths to calm her heart as it began to race a bit. She just hoped Caroline wouldn't tell anybody, especially not Gregory.
Slowing her steps a bit, she kept her eyes on where she was going as she began to speak. "It's Gregory. He's a friend of mine, but I have been starting to feel differently about him lately." She paused for a moment to look from the space in front of her to Caroline and back again. "I think I'm starting to fall in love with him, but I don't want to tell him. He might not feel the same way and if he doesn't then it would change the friendship we share. Plus, I feel like he is changing in some way and I don't know what might be going on with him or if it's something big or something small." She trailed off again, blushing even more than she had before. She couldn't believe that she had so much about her feelings and now felt slightly self-conscious, like she had revealed a deep, dark secret she has been keeping for a long time. She has been keeping this a secret, but it wasn't really that dark, was it?

Caroline looked at Lexxi, very anxious as she could tell she was about to speak her mind. Slowing her tempo to match hers she listened intently as her friend began to speak. Hmm, Gregory. Caroline knew him, but mostly as 'that guy who hangs out with Alexia'. Nonetheless, he seemed like an alright guy and she trusted Lexxi's judgment. It was a whole lot better then Carolines. She nodded throughout the story, not saying anything until Alexia had told her everything she wanted to tell. She was glad it was boy drama, not.. Well, those things she previously feared about. It did confirm though how much more paranoid she had gotten, ever since her view of the world changed and she was sucked into the supernatural void. She could handle boy drama. It wasn't like she was an expert though, if she looked back at her own track record. But it was always easier to give advice and then not follow it yourself, right? Caroline has never been suave or good with the lads in general, her judgment has been cloudy with some guys. Big example : Damon. She'd rather not even think about him, every time she does she gets so mad at him. And Matt.. It started off rough at the edges for her. And eventually, things got so .. Complicated and wrong. Moral of the story - Secrets hurt.
Changes? That made her raise her eyebrow. ''Well, if you don't tell him how you feel, I'm one hundred percent certain you'll regret it someday..'' she told her. ''But,'' she started, ''what do you mean he is.. Changing?'' Caroline asked. She was cautious, but didn't really believe he was changing in a .. more harmful way. Just.. Being paranoid, once again. Paranoid and still so very curious.

She was relieved that Caroline seemed to be okay with what she was talking about and not wondering if Gregory was someone she should stay away from. She listened as Caroline told her that she should tell him how she felt and that she might regret it one day if she didn't. She nodded in understanding, knowing that what Caroline was saying was true. She was still scared, though. Scared that he would reject her or something along those lines. She knew that he cared about her, but what if it was more of a brother-sisterly way?
Her thoughts were interrupted when Caroline asked how she thought he was changing. She looked over at the vampire, trying to figure out what to say. After a few minutes, she replied, "I'm not sure. It's like he is spending more time by himself or with Ally. Speaking of Ally, she has been acting strange, too. We're practically sisters and it feels like she is keeping something from me, too, but I don't know what it could be. I don't think she is involved with Gregory in a romantic way so it couldn't be that, could it?" She went quiet and, as she did, she heard in the distance wolves howling. Her head perking up and turning her body towards the sound, she found herself both excited and slightly scared, like she could sense Ally and Gregory nearby, but also sensed something dangerous, too. She looked back at Caroline, wondering why there has been so many wolves around so much lately and why she has been drawn to them lately.
